The NSW Sports Federation advocates 'the case for sport' and key sporting issues to the Government, the media and the public...

Members' Forums
All Members of the NSW Sports Federation are invited to NSWSF Members' Forums, held approximately 4 times per year. NSWSF Members' Forums are a great opportunity to hear the latest news in sport, provide feedback to your industry body and network with colleagues.

2009 Members Forums
The Members' Forum on 20th May saw Carol Mills, Director General for the Department of Arts, Sport and Recreation, present her thoughts and plans around the future of Sport and Recreation in NSW. Carol discussed plans for the Department and for State Sporting Organisations, including SDP funding.

SDP funding confirmed for 2009/2010
Following the Members' Forum on 20th May, the NSW Sports Federation wrote to the Minister for Sport and Recreation requesting confirmation of 2009/2010 SDP funding. Click here to read this letter.
We have now received a response from the Minister's office. The Minister wrote "I am pleased to confirm that all organisations funded under [the Sport development Program] will receive funding at the same level as they received in 2008/09 for the financial year ahead. NSW Sport and Recreation will contact all funded organisations shortly to negotiate funding agreements for 2009/10.

The Minister also confirmed that the Sport Development program will return to a three year contract basis in the 2010/11 financial year. Click here to read the Minister's full letter.

Award Modernisation Submission

Australian State Sports Federation Alliance (ASSFA)
ASSFA is comprised of the State and Territory Sports Federations, and collectively represents issues affecting community sport and active recreation in Australia. ASSFA communicates regularly and where appropriate provides a joint submission to Federal reviews and issues. ASSFA held a meeting in May 2009 to discuss a range of current matters including further input on the Federal Review of Sport, the Australian Tax Reform, the Productivity Commission Study, and the AIRC's Award Modernisation process. We also discussed options for future advocacy arrangements for sport in Australia, and the partnerships to be built by ASSFA. The next ASSFA meeting will be in late 2009
