ACPE and Sport NSW are Perfect Partners

The Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) has entered a new partnership with peak industry body Sport NSW designed to take both organisations to the next level.

The new partnership will open up a high level knowledge exchange between the sports industry and ACPE, with Sport NSW giving ACPE students access to new internship opportunities through its member organisations. The partnership will also give Sport NSW members the chance to tap into the research and sports specialist capabilities of ACPE, who are recognised as an elite athlete friendly institution.

Sport NSW Chairperson Joseph La Posta said the partnership was a perfect match.

“Sport NSW exists to support our members and this relationship with ACPE is one that we see growing over time to the great benefit of sporting organisations as well as ACPE students. We also have the ability to showcase the great facility ACPE now occupies through hosting events there, such as our recent AGM and Industry Forum attended by almost 70 sports industry leaders,” Mr La Posta said.

As a leading provider of sport, dance and physical education, ACPE provides students with high quality industry experience to complement their studies. Sport NSW counts more than 90 sporting organisations as its members who are constantly on the lookout for interns, volunteers and event management assistance, so the opportunities to collaborate are obvious.

“Our new partnership will see ACPE and Sport NSW work side by side in every sense to foster the future development of sport by tapping into our collective resources and championing each others causes. We are absolutely delighted to formalise our partnership,” said Carolyn Barker AM, Executive Director of Study Group Australia’s Higher Education Division and CEO of ACPE.

It is an exciting time in the evolution of ACPE. In 2017 the college will celebrate 100 years of sports education and earlier this year they moved to their purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility which for the first time houses all students as well as academic and administrative staff under one roof.

The new ACPE building is located next door to Sports House on Parkview Drive in Sydney Olympic Park, making Sport NSW their new neighbours as well as perfect partners.
