Sport NSW launches landmark report quantifying $34.7 billion annual value of community sport
Beyond the Game: The Value of Community Sport and Active Recreation in NSW, commissioned by Sport NSW and underpinned by research from the Centre for Sport, Business and Society at the University of Technology Sydney, is a landmark report identifying the key social, economic and health impacts of community sport and active recreation across the state.
The report assigns a credible dollar value to each impact, valuing the sector's total contribution to NSW at $34.7 billion — equivalent to more than $4,000 for every person in NSW. These findings confirm that community sport is essential social infrastructure, delivering stronger communities, boosting economic activity and creating healthier futures for all.
