NSW Hall of Champions - Call for Nominations

The names and achievements of the State's outstanding sports persons are perpetuated in the "NSW Hall of Champions" which is located at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. Nominations are now being called for the 2017 intake.
The Minister for Sport, The Hon. Stuart Ayres MP, approves of additional sports persons being included in the NSW Hall of Champions from time to time based on the recommendation of an assessment committee. This committee consists of a number of leading sporting administrators and those who have achieved the highest levels in their chosen sport.
Nominations are now sought from State Sporting Organisations for the 2017 intake into the Hall. It would be appreciated if your organisation would submit the name/s of any champion it considers would warrant inclusion in the Hall, together with concise career details, keeping in mind that the emphasis is on sport performance rather than coaching and training etc. It is not a requirement for the nominees to be born in New South Wales, although their sporting achievements must have been made while a resident of this State.
When submitting nominations for the 2017 NSW Hall of Champions intake, it would be appreciated if your organisation would ensure all nominees meet the selection criteria. The assessment committee will only consider nominations for sports persons who have achieved since 1975, and two years following a particularly outstanding athletic achievement which warrants special recognition; or retirement from elite competition.
In 2017, for the first time, the induction for new entrants into the NSW Hall of Champions will be combined with the NSW Sports Awards conducted by Sport NSW at a gala ceremony on Monday 27 November 2017. This will be an exciting night for sport in the state as we recognise champions both past and present on the same night for the first time.
Sport NSW has now taken responsibility for the collection of nominations.
