Paralympic Welcome Home Celebration

To celebrate the Australian Paralympians’ success, a Welcome Home celebration was hosted yesterday 4 October 2016, by NSW Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres and Sydney of City Councillor Jess Scully in Martin Place. The event gave Sydneysiders a chance to congratulate and welcome home our athletes and gave the Australian Paralympic team a chance to thank fans for their support throughout the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
More than 50 athletes and medallists from NSW and across Australia were on hand to greet fans and talk about their 2016 Rio experience.
Crowds were treated to a performance from Tony Doevandans. Known as Tony Dee, he is the star of the Channel 4 ‘We’re The Superhumans’ trailer for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. Supporting Tony wsas a 14-piece jazz band conducted by George Ellis.
