Sport NSW Welcome Government Announcement on WestInvests

Sport NSW today welcomed the announcement by Premier Dominic Perrottet, Treasurer Matt Kean and Minister for Sport Alister Henskens that more than $316.7 million in funding would be invested in community sport facilities across Western Sydney as part of the Westinvests program.

”Community sport and active recreation is vital to building healthy communities,” said Sport NSW CEO Stuart Hodge.

Our Playing Catch Up Report, released in November last year, identified the need for continued investment in community sport facilities and we are delighted to see today’s announcement that will deliver 15 new and upgraded sports facilities across Western Sydney.

We are encouraging all sides of politics to continue to provide much-needed investment into community sport facilities and to commit to continuing the highly successful Active Kids Voucher program and expand it to include adults and pre-schoolers.

Sport NSW is also calling for all sides to commit to an ongoing fund that sports can apply to for facility upgrades during the next term of parliament.
