Following an extensive recruitment process, Sport NSW is delighted to announce that Michele Windsor has been appointed to the board.

Michele brings decades of leadership experience across a broad range of financial services businesses in Asia Pacific alongside her passionate commitment to sport.

“Michele’s appointment complements the existing strengths of the Sport NSW board,” said Sport NSW Chair, Chris Hall.

“Michele has an incredible amount of professional experience in the financial services industry and life-long experience as a sports person with a disability.

“A congenital amputee, Michele was part of the Paralympic movement in its formative years and held national records in both long jump and breast stroke.

“We look forward to Michele’s contribution to continuing to advance sport in NSW.”

Born and bred in Central western NSW, Michele felt supported by her local community to try a variety of sports.

“I love sport and believe that participation is key, whatever your ability, in creating a well functioning community,” said Ms Windsor.

“Sport doesn’t only help with fitness, but teaches life skills, brings people together and has great psychological benefits.

“I have experienced all these things and more - when playing a good game of tennis, I completely forget that I have one arm or anything else for that matter!” added Ms Windsor.

Ms Windsor’s professional background is in banking and finance. After completing a B.Ec. (Hons) at the University of Sydney, with majors in Accounting, Law and Economics, she has been employed by Macquarie and Goldman Sachs in senior roles in both Australia and Asia.

In addition, since 2020 Ms Windsor has been a mentor with the Minerva Network, an organisation which enables elite sportswomen to maximise their opportunities on and off the field, supported by a network of leading professionals.
